- Place instrument in an Auction
- Contact Courtney Pianos if your piano is a Bechstein, Steinway, Lipp or Bosendorfer, as we actively seek such instruments for restoration.

- Consider the benefits of part-exchange.
Our Advice:
To put yourself in the best position when selling, you should know as much as possible about the instrument. By this we mean its make, age, model (if known), condition, and style of Stringing and Action. It is also recommended to obtain a professional valuation and assessment of the piano in order to assist you, particularly when selling privately. To this end we recommend our Valuation & Assessment Service which is available to all UK clients. This costs £ 50 inc VAT. Contact us for details.
BUT
The possibility exists that you may have a piano that is difficult or even impossible to sell. The factors that may determine this likelihood are thus:- Poor condition/Malfunction
- Structural defects
- Musically unattractive
- Unattractive/altered (modernised) cabinet
- Requires major expenditure
- Cannot be tuned properly - or at all !
HOWEVER :
PART EXCHANGE. If you are intending to dispose of your existing instrument, and replace with a better or different piano, it is better to trade in your old piano against the replacement if you are buying from a reputable retailer. The benefits are :- More favourable return on your current piano.
- No worry about disposal of existing piano.
- Convenient change over, eliminating the need to house two pianos whilst waiting for the old one to sell, or to be without a piano for any length of time.
