Upright Piano Cabinet Styles: Edwardian (1900-1910) & to 1915

Styles - Ornate, but less so than Victorian. More 'Art Nouveau' styled cabinets were being produced. Less carved areas, inlaid panels gradually phased out. As the introduction of electric lighting increased, candle-scones ceased to be fitted.

A 'Gresham & Co' English Walnut Art Nouveau Upright c.1905

Cabinet Veneers - Indian Rosewood, and Ebonised finishes common; Walnut phased out, and a few mahogany veneers being used. Some cheaper pianos were made with various veneers, but then stained or brush-grained a dark maroon colour.
